Mark Burford

Mark is currently Policy Adviser to the Vice Chancellor at Monash University and a Senior Adviser with the Nous Group. He has over twenty-five years experience advising and solving complex problems for governments in many areas of public policy. He has worked as a senior public servant, consultant for State and Commonwealth governments and think tank leader on a many issues – including in recent years water policy and climate change, skilled migration and population policy, housing, health funding, higher and vocational education, school and tertiary education reform, economic policy and public sector management. He was tertiary education adviser to Julia Gillard when she was Education Minister and advised the Gonski Review on school funding. He has also been a successful ‘green’ property developer. Mark is influential in policy circles and his work has consistently been at the interface of research, analysis and successful policy-making.
